Day 02-03 Theoretical session on basic climbing course

The theoretical session about the trek, as a precursor to a practical one, would help to get everyone on the same page. We shall have some free time after the sessions on each day, which you can utilize to explore the city and buy your personal essentials for the trip.

In the wake of arriving in Lukla, we might set on our short trek to Phakding. The journey to Phakding will be covered in 3-4 hours, which will be seemingly shorter owing to the beautiful panorama. Remembering the ultimate objective to help acclimatization, we will take short trips around Phakding. We will stay overnight here.

We shall embark our journey from Phakding continuing our aesthetically pleasing interaction with nature on our way to Namche Bazaar. The journey will be filled with mesmerizing scenery of shining mountain tops of the likes of Mt. Thamserku, simultaneously, the sound of assiduous Dudh Koshi will please our senses. In about 6 hours, we will reach the coveted market of Namche Bazaar– an indispensable place of the route of any mountain climber in the Eastern Himalayas of Nepal.

Situated at an altitude of nearly 3500 meters from the sea level, Namche Bazaar is a market that caters to all the needs of mountaineers. It boasts facilities like ATM, Wi-Fi, restaurants offering cuisines from different parts of the world inter alia. The exciting journey lies ahead!

Day 07 Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m) (5- 6 hours)

We embark on yet another journey to Tengboche, a serene village in the Khumbu region. As we elevate, the peak of Ama Dablam will constantly remind us the proximity of the destination as it comes closer. After a 6 hour long trek along the rugged trail, we reach Tengboche. From here we can value the all-encompassing view of a few ranges– Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawache, Lhotse and the Mount Everest. These peaks would certainly reinforce that you have come quite far! The Tengboche Monastery is yet another attraction in this region, which is part and parcel of the visit here. We will stay overnight at Tengboche.

Day 08 Tengboche to Dingbuche (4410m) (3-4 hours)

We will have to continue taking a steep ascent along the track maintained by a local Sherpa to reach Dingbuche. The view of the mountains, the alpine trees is so breathtakingly gorgeous that one should be careful not to lose focus from the rugged track. Finally, we will achieve the lovely valley of Dingbuche. We will enjoy the local cuisine after reaching Dingbuche and call it a day.

Day 09 Dingbuche to Chhukung (4730m) (2 hours)

Our next destination is Chhukung, another village en route to the Island Peak, famous among tourists for the memorable homestay experience that the villagers offer. Another opportunity to closely observe the Sherpa culture, cuisine and generous hospitality. We will spend a night in Chhukung.

Day 10 Chhukung to Island Peak base camp (5,200m): 3-4 hours

On the tenth day of our journey, we will reach nearer to the summit as we ascend towards the base camp. An approximate 4 hours journey from Chhukung would take us to the base of the Island Peak. As we elevate higher, for the purposes of acclimatization, we will gather some rest at the base camp.

Day 11-13 Practical session on basic climbing course

In order to supplement the theory that was imparted at the initial days in Kathmandu, we shall now bring the knowledge into action. On the eleventh and the twelfth day of our journey, we shall devote our time to get familiar with the height, learn to handle the difficult situations that might arise along the journey while ascending, and other nuances relating to climbing the Peak.

Day 14 Island Peak base camp to Island Peak summit (6,189m), back to base camp: 10-12 hours

Finally, we have reached the climax of our trip. All the efforts that we have put in to reach, thus far will culminate in the assent of the Island Peak. Scaling the peak will give you a surreal feeling of being at the top of the world, a sense of inexplicable achievement. The picturesque view of the sea of mountains will mesmerize you and you can drink the cornucopian drink of spiritual happiness and perennial contentment.

With the sense of achievement, we will descend into the picturesque village of Pangboche. Popular as the base camp for Ama Dablam, it is encircled by Kang Taiga, Everest, Thamserku, and Kongde, along with Ama Dablam. A predominantly Sherpa valley, it is also an abode to one of the oldest monasteries in the region. We will spend a night in Pangboche.

Now post achievement of scaling Island Peak, Lukla might reveal to you what you could not see earlier. You will appreciate the serenity, greenery of Lukla and the feeling of contentment would make you ecstatic. Although 7 hours in the scale of time, descend would seem much lesser to you now. We will spend our last night so proximate to the mountains.

Day 18 Fly to Kathmandu (40 minutes)

Another flight from the dramatic air routes to the capital. As we take off and elevate further in the sky, the peaks and high hills we were amidst till yesterday will start looking more like pictures captured in camera and start seeming distant until they are out of sight. In 40 minutes, we will reach Kathmandu. You can explore more parts of this historically and culturally vibrant city and shop some souvenirs.

Day 19 Final Departure
